Albert Lea FFA Wins Region 7 Agriculture Mechanics Contest, Advances to State
Albert Lea, MN — Albert Lea Area Schools is proud to announce that the Albert Lea FFA Agriculture Mechanics Team earned an outstanding 1st place finish out of 14 teams at the Region 7 FFA Agriculture Mechanics Contest held Monday.
The Albert Lea FFA team members are:
Konner Wolff, Jake Dahl, Connor White, Theo Bowman, Will Doppelhamer, and Andy DeBeau.
Individually, Albert Lea students had an impressive showing:
Theo Bowman – 2nd place overall
Will Doppelhamer – 4th place
Konner Wolff – 13th place
Connor White – 17th place
Jake Dahl – 18th place
This year’s competition tested students in a wide range of technical and hands-on agricultural skills, including SMAW welding, electrical wiring, large and small engines, construction, tractors, and zero-turn mowers.
With their first-place team finish, the Albert Lea FFA Agriculture Mechanics Team has qualified for the Minnesota FFA State Competition in April.
In addition to FFA success, Andy DeBeau also competed in the Region 7 Agronomy Contest, where he placed 6th overall and qualified for the Minnesota FFA State Competition as well.
“We are incredibly proud of these students and the work they have put in to reach this level of success,” said district leaders. “Their performance reflects not only their technical skills, but also their teamwork, work ethic, and dedication.”
The district would also like to extend a special thank you to Jeff Jenson, who stepped in this year to support the FFA program while Coach Viktora was out on maternity leave. “The way Jeff jumped in to support our students and the program has been truly amazing. His commitment made a real difference and helped set this team up for success.”
